KARA’s Concert, 5 years Represented as ‘Hallyu Supergirl’


KARA’s first solo concert ‘KARAISA’ first stop ended successfully at Seoul Olympic Park Stadium on February 19.

The concert was reported to have been a collection of KARA’s five year of hard week since their debut in 2007. Through the performances the members and audience alike were able to reflect on the growth of the group.

Han Seung-yeon shared before the concert, “We grew together in KARA” reflecting the sentiment of overall concert. The overall energy of the concert seemed to view the transformation of the girls from ‘substance idol’ to ‘hallyu wave Supergirl.’

The group performed a total of 33 songs beginning with ‘Step’ going down the list of their hit songs. The members elicited the response of the fans and included favorite album song list for diehard fans.

The highlight of the concert was based on solo performances. Members participated in costume, producing the stage on their own. Park Gyuri showed off her passionate tango dance moves in a red dress, singing about the sorrow of woman’s broken heart.

All of the solo performances by the member gained a heated response. Han Seung-yeon sang ‘Super Star’ the soundtrack of KBS drama ‘Mary Stayed Out All Night’ wearing a colorful dress. She displayed the atmosphere of a fairy tale. Nicole’s stage performing Michael Jackson’s ‘Beat It’ was very impressive, reenacting the moon walk, poppin, and step. Goo Hara wore a pink mini-dress and Kang Jiyoung’s solo stage of singing acoustic version of ‘Umbrella’ with a guitar.

The girls also wore superwoman costume reenacting Norazo performance at the end. It was an unexpected surprise as all the fans were expecting them to perform their most recent single ‘Super Girl.’ They performed ‘Mr.’ ‘Winter Magic’ and ‘Jet Coaster Love’ in consideration of the 200 Japanese fans.

Thanking their fans KARA sang ‘Pretty Girl,’ ‘Girls be Ambitious’ and ‘Rock You’ as encore songs. Kicking off their Seoul performance the group enters their Asia tour performing in 5 cities in Japan from April; total of 6 countries.
